Welcome to Korea

We've made it to Seoul after a pain-free trip on Emirates. Our three-hour layover in Dubai was welcome and odd - manically busy with shoppers at 1:30 in the morning! And then we got on one of the massive Airbus 380s - alas, not on the top tier. Lots of space, lots of films and good food, including our first mouthfuls of kimchi.

On the way. View from the Airbus 380 as we leave the sun behind us ...

... and notice the moon up ahead

There was a bit of a mix-up with meeting Mr. Kim (there will no doubt be a lot of Kims mentioned here, mostly unrelated) as the bus driver misheard Gay's impeccable Korean and dropped us off at the wrong stop. Still, we found him using our rented Korean phone, and made our way to the OMF flat. It's basic but just right, and in a neighbourhood that looks and smells like Seoul in 1990.

Tim's bedroom (at least he's not lying on boxes of books this time!)

A Korean bathroom - fondly remembered

Setting up this blog with a superfast broadband speed

About ten minutes after arriving, old friends visited - the three Kims, and Dr. Kim, who brought plenty of supplies and then whisked us off to a local shiktang (a Korean restaurant).

The Lees (Mi Hae, the dentist, in the middle - we already have an appointment)

A bit of fussing about the food possibly being too hot - as if! And then we dove into our first Korean feast, fish guts and all. Never lost the chopstick touch! although will have to get used to sitting on the floor and putting up with numb legs.

Those'll be the fish intestines

Mrs Kim and Dr Kim - not related!
